March 26, 2020
The Stay at Home Order for the State of Minnesota will begin Friday, March 27, 2020 at 11:59 pm. The purpose of the order is to protect the most vulnerable and slow the spread of COVID-19 in our state. We ask all of you to stay at home unless absolutely necessary. Critical sector employees will continue to work and businesses deemed as providing essential services are allowed to remain open. All previously announced restrictions remain in place.
The Stay at Home Order is not a lockdown and it does not prohibit residents from leaving their homes. You are free to drive to essential employment, services and businesses, but try to limit your visits as much as possible. You do not need to carry documentation with you as an explanation as to why you are out of your home. In addition, you may also travel between family members homes, check in with neighbors, care for animals, and walk/jog/hike/bike outside. Law enforcement will not be doing random traffic stops but will instead follow the same criteria for initiating traffic stops based on driving conduct.
We ask everyone to please continue to follow these precautions:
- Stay home if you are sick
- Cover coughs and sneezes
- Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
- Practice social distancing – maintain a distance of 6 feet away from others
If you are experiencing fever, cough and shortness of breath, please call your healthcare provider.
For the most up to date and accurate information, please look to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) https://www.cdc.gov/ and MDH (MN Department of Health) https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/index.html websites. MDH has a COVID-19 public hotline that is open 7am to 7pm. The hotline number is 651-201-3920.
Be assured that healthcare providers, public health officials, first responders and emergency management continue to work together on a daily basis to ensure the safety of our staff and the public. We thank you for your understanding and appreciate your cooperation with following the recommended guidelines to keep your families healthy and help us slow the spread of COVID-19. Stay Safe!
