Pihl's Park

Pihl’s Park was originally built as a private retreat by Joe Pihl who always enjoyed sharing his beautiful retreat with the public.  In the 1960’s he donated his retreat to Faribault County to be used as a public park for everyone to come and enjoy.  Today visitors can come and spend the day, week, or season enjoying the beautiful scenery, the numerous species of plants and wildlife, or camp in the 20-acre park.  The gates to the park open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m., seven days a week from the first of May through the first of October.

Pihl’s Park offers 30 sites with electrical for RV camping and a separate rustic area along the shore line for tenting.  All camp sites have a fire ring and a picnic table.  Handicap-accessible restrooms, with showers and a drinking fountain, are centrally located in the park.

The picnic area features two shelters, picnic tables and grills.  The playground offers a merry-go-round, swings, slide, and teeter-totter along with a modern play structure.  A horseshoe area, Frisbee-disc golf practice course, and a three hole mini-golf course are also in the park.  Some recreational/sporting items are available for sign-out.

There is a short nature trail following the Rice Lake shoreline.  A handicap-accessible fishing pier is located within the park.  Canoes and kayaks can be carried into the lake for launching and a public access boat ramp is located nearby.  Rice Lake is a shallow lake that offers boating, fishing, and an exceptional opportunity to observe nature with its many creatures.
