Research/Access/Genealogy
The Faribault County Recorder’s Office is open to Genealogy researchers Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Most records are open to the public. Our Birth and Death Records start in 1870, Marriage Records start in 1865. The records in the Faribault County Recorder’s Office pertain to Faribault County Residents.
We do not offer over the phone research for Vital Statistics. If you are unable to research the records in person, you may send by mail a request for research. Requests for research are done in the order they are received.
Fees for research are:
- $20.00 per hour or
- $9.00 for each record to be verified, name and date of event of required.
Fees are payable before research is started.
Due to workspace issues and electrical power issues, we do not allow laptop computers in our vault. Groups may be limited to two people.

The Minnesota Official Marriage System (MOMS®)
MOMS® index will show the bride and groom names, the year of the marriage and the county that maintains the record. All 87 Minnesota Counties are participating in the voluntary system.
Minnesota Historical Society
The Minnesota Historical Society has Vital Statistics record indexes, Naturalization records for the State, and numerous other records. Visit their website.
