Homestead Classifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for the homestead classification you must
- Be a Minnesota resident
- Be one of the owners of the property or a relative
- Occupy the property as your primary residence
An owner may not have the benefits of the homestead classification in more than one place. A person may have only one homestead and that must be their place of residence on January 2.
APPLICATION PROCESS
To apply for the homestead classification, you must fill out an application by calling the Assessor's Office at (507) 526-6201.

All homestead applications must be returned to the Assessor's Office by December 31.
